The program promotes smart, climate-resilient shea, combining ecological innovation and women's economic empowerment.
Beyond butter, women transform the entire shea tree into high value-added products:

Natural cosmetics (soaps, candles, deodorants, creams),

Shea honey and edible caterpillars for local nutrition,
-
Ecological charcoal from hulls and residues to reduce deforestation.
This circular approach creates sustainable income, strengthens women's leadership in agribusiness, and makes shea a model of economic and environmental resilience.


🇸🇳 Senegal
Main achievements

REFAN Project (16,000 women): Capacity building in the rice sector, improving market access (+140,000 tonnes per season).

Ndam Lo: Rehabilitation of the fruit and cereal processing center; training and economic integration of 720 women in the dried fruit sector.
-
Touba: Structuring and economic empowerment of 1,000 women in fruit and vegetable processing.

Yeumbeul: Training and entrepreneurial support for 200 women.

Yam Village (Eiffage): Economic empowerment of women through agro-processing.

COVID-19 Response: Virtual training of 5,120 women in the production of antiseptic soaps and hydroalcoholic gels.


🇸🇱 Sierra Leone
Main achievements

Promoting sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture.

Strengthening the technical and economic capacities of rural women.

Development of the cassava value chain, from artisanal processing to national marketing.

Extension of the shelf life (SBD) of cassava fufu, promoting food security and reducing post-harvest losses.

Production of cassava bread flour, a local alternative to imported wheat.

🍝 Innovation: cassava spaghetti, a high value-added processed product.

Scaling up the successes recorded, particularly in the provinces of North Kivu and Goma, to a national scale.

Mobilization of resources in collaboration with International Development Banks and UN Women to finance the Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFP) sector: coffee, palm and cocoa, contributing to rural employment, value creation and the economic empowerment of women.

🇳🇬 Nigeria
Economic empowerment and promotion of shea butter
Main achievements
Women's Economic Empowerment in Climate Resilient Agriculture Project (Niger State), focused on reducing inequalities in access to land and productive resources.
Improving productivity, access to services, markets and financing for rural women in the shea sector.
Implementation of a cosmetics training program, which has helped strengthen the skills of 40 companies and 7 women's cooperatives.
Among them, 5 will be awarded prizes and sponsored by German cooperation, in recognition of their innovation, sustainability and social impact.


🇳🇪 Niger
Main achievements

Project “Combating the migration of young people and women through agribusiness”.

Processing of 6 local crops (moringa, tomato, sesame, millet, onion, cowpea) for the benefit of 15 cooperatives in 5 departments of Zinder.

Production of 16 quality agri-food products and strengthening of women's cooperatives.


🇹🇩 Chad
Promoting shea butter and empowering rural women
Main achievements

Support for women's cooperatives for their integration into the green value chain and the promotion of sustainable production.

Strengthening the technical and organizational capacities of rural women producers in the agrifood and cosmetics sectors.

Development of the shea sector through processing using two complementary approaches:

the traditional method, preserving local know-how and cultural identity,
-
and mechanical extraction, improving the quality, productivity and traceability of butter.

Creation of cosmetic value chains focused on the production of shea-based hair and body care products, adapted to the needs of women in rural areas.

Implementation in the rural areas of N'Djamena and Koumra, promoting female employment, local entrepreneurship and the development of national natural resources.


🇨🇩 Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
Valorization of cassava and empowerment of rural women
Main achievements
Promotion of sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, and strengthening of the technical and economic capacities of rural women.
Integrated development of the cassava value chain, from artisanal processing to national marketing.
Major success in extending the shelf life (SBD) of cassava fufu and in the production of cassava bread flour, reducing dependence on wheat imports.
Remarkable innovation with the creation of cassava spaghetti, a local product with high added value.
These successes are currently being scaled up nationally, particularly in the provinces of North Kivu and Goma, to boost rural employment and food security.
